Often we are getting questions on where to park a car in Wroclaw, what the rules on parking in Wroclaw are, and what else is important to know.

That is why today we will be sharing a little guide to parking your car in Wroclaw, the different parking zones in Wroclaw for street parking, but we will also have a look into the most important car parks in Wroclaw with prices and compare which one is the best for which duration.

You will also be seeing our futuristic parking patrol cars, and we will show you some hotels with private parking, and some that are close to the most affordable car park in Wroclaw!

Let’s go, no, we mean, let’s park!

Public Street Parking

Let’s start with some basic Polish lesson and have a look at the street sign. You can see Płatny here, which means “Paid”.

That already tells you, whenever you see this sign, you will need to pay for parking. In case you happen to see Bezpłatny – this means free parking, however it is not very likely you will find this anywhere 😉

In addition on these signs, you can see the parking zone of Wroclaw, and the hours when you will need to pay for the parking – let’s get to that point now.

In case you will find a sign “Koniec” that means simply that the end of parking is there. Now as we lifted your level of Polish language a bit, let’s get into the different parking zones in Wroclaw.

Overview and cost of the parking zones in Wroclaw

Depending on how close you want to park to the city center in Wroclaw, there are three zones with different parking fees. Zone A and Zone B are paid every day (including the weekends!) from 9:00 to 20:00 while Zone C is only paid from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00 and free on the weekends.

Zone A – City Center

First hour: 7,00 PLN
Second hour: 7,30 PLN
Third hour: 7,70 PLN
After that: 7,00 PLN per hour

Zone B – Around the City Center

First hour: 5,00 PLN
Second hour: 5,20 PLN
Third hour: 5,50 PLN
After that: 5,00 PLN per hour

Zone C – Zones outside of the City Center

First hour: 3,00 PLN
Second hour: 3,10 PLN
Third hour: 3,30 PLN
After that: 3,00 PLN per hour

How to buy a parking ticket in Wroclaw?

In all of these zones, you can find ticket machines like the one in the picture here, this is where you buy your ticket.

First of all – you can change the language on the flag icon and the machines speak English and German as well, so you should be able to just follow the steps. And yes, you can pay cash, or contactless with Visa and MasterCard.

You simply pick the time on how long you want to park, but also will need to enter your license plate number of the car – this information will be on the parking ticket but also transmitted to the central city parking system that automated controls scanning the license plates know that you have paid the fee.

You can also use applications (mPAY, SkyCash or AnyPark) or get an annual or monthly resident parking ticket – but as this might not concern most of the visitors, we will not get into further details here.

Parking control car – don’t mix it with Google Street View

By the way, if you see these futuristic cars driving around in Wroclaw, this is not a Google Street View car…

This is one of the city cars driving around all day to capture and take pictures of the wrongly parked cars, and automatically issue the fines to them 🙂 Not having a ticket will cost 360 PLN on top and if you run out of time, that would be a 216 PLN fine. If you pay the fine in 7 days, you get a 50% discount, how nice is that?

The green license plate is not connected to that itself, but a regular license plate for all electric cars.

Free Parking in Wroclaw

Let’s talk about free parking in Wroclaw! Well, in the city center, there is almost no free parking available anymore – there used to be a few “pockets” where parking still was free, but the city is turning them one after another into paid parking. So there is no point in recommending them anymore.

Instead, we can recommend you the park and ride options in Wroclaw. We have around 30 of these locations where you can park on a free parking a bit outside of the city, but with a great direct connection by tram to the city center.

Just be aware of one thing that might be a bit untypical for park and ride. You are not allowed to park between 2am and 4am due to a “maintenance break” – so this option is only feasible for one single day and not overnight.
