Kinomural 2026

What Is Kinomural? What Can You Expect?

Kinomural is an innovative art event that transforms Wrocław’s Nadodrze district into a monumental open-air gallery. After dark, courtyards, residential buildings, and historic tenements become vast projection surfaces — some exceeding 300 square meters — dedicated to new media art.

Visitors can experience a wide spectrum of moving image murals, including video art, animation, experimental film, sound performances, and immersive audiovisual installations. The program features digital works as well as hand-drawn and painted animation, alongside projects using virtual reality and 3D technologies. The result is large-scale art embedded directly within the city’s architectural landscape.

Where Does Kinomural Take Place?

Kinomural unfolds in the Nadodrze district of Wrocław. Projections appear on building walls inside local courtyards, creating an immersive route that audiences explore on foot. The event’s exact locations are concentrated around the Nadodrze neighborhood, turning this historic part of the city into a futuristic audiovisual environment.

An Urban Spectacle After Dark

Since 2019, Kinomural has brought buildings to life for one extraordinary night each year, stimulating the senses of thousands of spectators. What may sound like the beginning of a legend is, in fact, a real cultural phenomenon. The event merges new media art with the urban fabric, constructing a monumental and temporary cityscape made of light, sound, and moving images.

The projections are site-specific, carefully integrated with the architecture on which they appear. Blank side walls in historic districts become immense screens, forming a giant outdoor audiovisual gallery. The city’s architecture, experimental cinema, public space art, and visions of future cities all serve as inspiration. Kinomural functions as a new medium for audiovisual storytelling, where art and environment interact in dialogue.

The works presented range from abstract, form-driven experiments to pieces engaging with poetic, social, philosophical, and existential themes. Together, they create a space that feels both futuristic and deeply rooted in the city’s identity.

The Creators Behind Kinomural

Kinomural was founded by the Bartos brothers, long-time creators in the field of film art. Piotr Bartos is a director, cinematographer, and visual arts experimenter. Bartek Bartos is a director, screenwriter, and producer. In 2013, they established Studio Manifiesta in Wrocław, a production house focused on original film projects.

The core team also includes Agata Bartos, a graduate of the Dutch Fine Arts Academy and a mixed-media artist working as a director, screenwriter, and costume designer, and Marianna Wasik, a producer, cultural manager, and percussionist with two decades of experience in cultural and event production, including ten years with the internationally acclaimed Song of the Goat Theatre. She is also the founder and leader of the band Mamatucada.

Together, they shape Kinomural into a distinctive meeting point of cinema, contemporary art, sound, and the living city.
