Wolna Grupa Bukowina to play at Stary Klasztor!

The Stary Klasztor music club invites lovers of Polish sung poetry to meet a legend of the genre. On September 27, Wolna Grupa Bukowina takes the stage in the Gothic Hall.

Wolna Grupa Bukowina is a Polish sung-poetry group formed in the early 1970s, debuting in 1971 at the Tourist Song Festival in Szklarska Poręba. The band came from Busko-Zdrój and was founded by then-high-school graduate Wojciech Bellon, whose song “Ponidzie” won one of the festival’s top prizes. As an open-formation group, it has featured many well-known Polish performers and musicians over the years. Its core members were Wojciech Bellon (author of most of the lyrics), Grażyna Kulawik, Wojciech Jarociński and Wacław Juszczyszyn. Beyond a substantial discography, the band has performed at numerous Polish festivals, including the Polish Song Festival in Opole and the Student Song Festival in Krakow, has taken part in the FAMA student festivals, and has twice played to an audience of 150,000 at the Przystanek Woodstock festival. They have also toured Europe and performed for Polish communities in Canada, the USA and Ireland. For more than 50 years, Wolna Grupa Bukowina has continued to perform across Poland with unwavering success, winning new generations of devoted listeners and becoming a lasting and significant fixture of the Polish music scene.
