Tribute to Pharoah Sanders by Pradziad

We invite you to an evening filled with emotional and bold compositions by one of the spiritual guides of jazz music – Pharoah Sanders. This saxophonist, who passed away four years ago, combined modernity and tradition in his work, constantly drawing inspiration from folk elements originating from various parts of the world. In doing so, he created a universal, global musical language that bridged cultural and geographical distances. The music of Pharoah Sanders will be performed by the band Pradziad, expanded into a sextet especially for this occasion.

Pradziad is a Wrocław-based quartet presenting music rich in references to ethnic motifs, as well as to both past and future forms of jazz music. In the band’s work, dissonance and harmony do not clash but instead complement one another. Their compositions are unhurried and minimalist in form, while fluidly shifting direction. The group was originally formed as a contemporary response to the classic sound of spiritual jazz, infused with the dark atmosphere characteristic of Polish artistic expression of the 1960s.
