Summer at the Pergola: The Surfer | Film Thursday & Outdoor Cinema
Fresh releases and great cinema, every Thursday at 21:30. Screenings take place under the open sky, surrounded by the Multimedia Fountain and the greenery of the Pergola. The Film Thursdays programme features exclusively new films – both major hits and less obvious stories.
These cinematic gems are accompanied by the film-like setting of the Pergola. The murmur of the Fountain, the greenery, and the magic of cinema under the stars give every screening a unique atmosphere. Not even bad weather can spoil it – if necessary, screenings will be moved indoors within the complex.
The number of deckchairs available on site is limited. It’s worth arriving early to grab a spot, or simply bring a blanket and settle in comfortably on the grass.
Oscar winner, the inimitable Nicolas Cage, seeks revenge on a group of surfers who humiliated him in front of his teenage son.
An Australian beach blazing with infernal heat becomes a nightmarish trap for an ordinary guy who only wanted to enjoy the charms of the local waves.
A mixture as addictive as a drug, combining Point Break and Fight Club. A tale of the birth of an obsession that can lead to the dust.
A former surfer (Nicolas Cage) returns to the paradise beach of his childhood to spend time with his teenage son. It is meant to be a men’s weekend amid the ocean waves. However, a group of locals claiming rights to the beach forbid the newcomers from entering “their territory”. Irritated by the taunts of the arrogant tough guys, the man tries to show who’s in charge and save face in his son’s eyes. Soon, however, he will painfully learn just how unequal a game he has entered. The beach, blazing with infernal heat, becomes a nightmarish trap from which he can break free only by standing up to the local gang, which even the police fear.
