Sonomnia at Nietota / Jazztota

Sonomnia is a project in constant transformation — their music is an intimate record of a struggle with the artists’ own super-ego, on the border between sleep and waking, a space where hidden layers of the musicians’ personalities can fully resonate through sound. Improvisation and shared presence in the moment are at the heart of their sound. A wealth of synthesizers, custom digital instruments, and samples forms a perfect counterweight to the organic, acoustic sound of piano, drums, and guitars. This eclectic blend is meant to weave hypnotic, vivid, dream-like landscapes in the listener’s imagination.

In their search, the band draws on spiritual jazz, alternative electronics, LA-style improvised new wave, classical music, and anything driven by real, strong feeling. This is deeply personal art that defies genre — best described as music freed from the ego, stream of consciousness, symbiosis.
