[Sold Out] Skalpel – Concert on the Concordia Design Rooftop

SKALPEL – a classic of European nu jazz, live on the roof of Concordia Design Wrocław!

Join us for a special concert by Skalpel – the duo of Marcin Cichy and Igor Pudło, who for over two decades have consistently been building their own musical language at the intersection of jazz and electronics.

On their first two albums, “Skalpel” and “Konfusion”, released by Ninja Tune, the duo translated the sound and atmosphere of 1960s and 70s Polish jazz into the language of contemporary electronic music, creating music of refined structure and heavy emotional weight. Both releases earned excellent reviews in prestigious music titles: from NME, through Pitchfork, The Wire to DJ Magazine, and concerts around the world.

After Igor’s and Marcin’s solo projects, the Skalpel duo joined forces again in 2012 at the Sacrum Profanum Festival in Kraków. There they presented bold yet stylish interpretations of four of the most famous contemporary Polish composers: Penderecki, Lutosławski, Górecki and Kilar.

The albums from the Ninja Tune catalogue are today considered classics of jazztronica, while the subsequent “Transit” (2014) and “Highlight” (2020) are an excellent update and modification of the duo’s unique analogue-digital sound. The latter was released in collaboration with the iconic label !K7 Records.

In 2022 Skalpel returned with the album “Origins” – here you’ll find jazz as well as drum’n’bass, downtempo and electro, trip-hop and balearic. The band received the Fryderyk 2023 award in the electronic music category for this release.

Skalpel are also winners of awards such as Paszport Polityki, Fryderyk, Człowiek ze Złotym Uchem, the Wrocław Artistic Award, and have received BBC Gilles Peterson Award nominations.
