PCFB × European Night of Literature 2026: Short Films & Shared Stories

As part of European Night of Literature 2026, Polish Cinema for Beginners invites you to a special programme of contemporary Polish short films by emerging filmmakers.

Inspired by this year’s theme, “Community: How to Find What Was Never Lost,” members of the Polish Cinema for Beginners community will also share selected literary excerpts between screenings. These Shared Stories connect literature and cinema through voices, cultures, and shared experiences.

Join us for an evening of films, stories, and community — open to everyone.

Programme: starting at 18:30, just like the other readings in Borek, screenings run in blocks. Since it’s ENL, each block has special readings associated with it — invited guests from the community share selected literary texts from their home countries, bringing together different languages, cultures and stories. The full film programme will be announced soon.

Practical information: 22 August 2026 (Saturday), 18:30–22:00, General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, Wrocław Branch, ul. Powstańców Śląskich 186. Free admission. Hosted by Hanna Kościukiewicz, Pranav Kelkar and Anastazja Katan.

All films will be screened with English subtitles, and the event will be conducted in English, warmly welcoming both international and Polish audiences.

Polish Cinema for Beginners is a film club created for everyone curious about Polish cinema, regardless of where they come from. Since 2012, it has brought together international and Polish audiences through screenings, discussions, and special events that make Polish cinema accessible in English. Organised by the Wrocław Film Foundation as part of European Literature Night 2026, co-financed by the City of Wrocław and the Polish Film Institute (PISF).
