Meeting with Olga Tokarczuk: Premiere of “Świata jest za dużo”

This will be one of the most important literary events of the year – the world premiere of Olga Tokarczuk’s newest novel, “Świata jest za dużo” (“There Is Too Much World”). Note: it takes place in Wrocław! On October 14, 2026. A unique meeting with the Nobel Prize-winning author, an honorary citizen of the capital of Lower Silesia, will open this year’s edition of the Bruno Schulz Festival. Free tickets go on distribution starting Wednesday.

Olga Tokarczuk’s new book is a substantial novel of nearly 700 pages. Lower Silesia, Wrocław, and Wałbrzych become the stage for one of the largest social experiments in European history. In the spring of 1946, in a devastated Wrocław, people with complicated pasts meet. It is a constellation novel that links the fates of characters from Lviv, Drohobych, and Buenos Aires, and follows the Dniester and Oder rivers, creating a grand story about memory, identity, and building a new life after catastrophe.

“This book is my act of faith in the power of life, in the power of building anew after catastrophe, in the power of diversity. I hope it will serve a better understanding of our complex collective identity,” says Olga Tokarczuk.

The world premiere of the novel will take place on October 14, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Centennial Hall in Wrocław. The conversation with the author will be led by Prof. Urszula Glensk – literary scholar, lecturer at the University of Wrocław, literary critic, and writer.

The meeting will also be the commercial premiere of the book, meaning it will be the first place where “Świata jest za dużo” can be purchased. Four years ago, during the premiere of “The Empusium” at the same venue, Olga Tokarczuk signed books for several hours after the meeting – everyone who patiently waited in the very long line received an autograph. This year, it will again be possible to get the author’s signature.

Admission to the meeting requires a free ticket, available from September 9 at four locations: the Wrocław House of Literature, the Pan Tadeusz Museum, the National Forum of Music, and the Mediateka, during their opening hours. One person may collect a maximum of 2 tickets. Seating is limited. There will be an opportunity to purchase the book and get the author’s autograph during the meeting.
