Kneecap: Hip-Hop Revolution (Open-Air Film)

Ireland’s Oscar submission and winner of the Audience Award at Sundance. “Kneecap: Hip-Hop Revolution” is a wild comedy about a few lads from the estates who overdosed on their mother tongue. Director Rich Peppiatt mixes fact with pure fiction like a top DJ, and the real-life rappers — playing themselves — are joined on screen by Michael Fassbender.

Meet Kneecap, a hip-hop trio from Northern Ireland. In British-occupied Belfast, Liam and Naoise always find a way to have a good time, sell a few drugs, mock the enemy and outrun an over-zealous police force — all while rapping in Irish, on an island where more people speak even… Polish. When JJ, a frustrated music teacher, unexpectedly joins them, rapping in Irish becomes an act of political defiance.
