Intergenerational Story — Leo Festival at NFM Wrocław
Opening the 17th Leo Festival in Wrocław, this chamber concert brings together professional soloists from the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra alongside prize-winning students of Polish music academies. Three masterpieces of Central European chamber music make up the programme.
Smetana’s intensely autobiographical String Quartet No. 1 “From My Life” ends with the fateful high E note presaging his deafness. Dvořák’s expansive String Quintet No. 2 follows, and the concert concludes with Schoenberg’s late-Romantic Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), inspired by a dramatic nocturnal encounter.
Programme: B. Smetana: String Quartet No. 1 in E minor “From My Life” · A. Dvořák: String Quintet No. 2 in G major op. 77 · A. Schoenberg: Verklärte Nacht op. 4
