Great Pianists, Great Works – Chopin Études | Wroclaw Summer Classics 2026

An exceptional piano recital as part of the IV Summer Festival of the University Philharmonic — Wrocław Summer Classics. Within the historic interiors of the Oratorium Marianum, one of the most significant and demanding cycles in the history of piano music will be heard: the complete 24 Études Op. 10 and Op. 25 by Frédéric Chopin.

Although Chopin wrote the études as pieces for developing piano technique, he elevated the genre to the level of true art. Each one is a separate musical world — full of poetry, drama, lyricism, virtuosity and emotion. Together they form a remarkable story about the genius of a composer who transformed a technical exercise into a work of art.

The soloist of the evening is Martin Kasík (Czech Republic) — one of the most distinguished pianists of his generation, a laureate of prestigious international piano competitions, acclaimed for his extraordinary tonal culture, musical intelligence and mastery of interpretation. His concerts captivate audiences across Europe, and his Chopin repertoire occupies a special place in his artistic work.

The evening is enriched by a spoken introduction to the music by Bartosz Żurakowski, who will introduce audiences to the fascinating stories surrounding the creation of the études and their place in Chopin’s output.

A concert for all lovers of the piano and great music — an encounter with a work that for nearly two centuries has remained one of the finest achievements in piano literature.
