The History and Unique Atmosphere of WFDP
The Wrocław Good Beer Festival is currently the largest beer celebration in Poland and one of the most important events of its kind in Europe. Since 2010, it has attracted thousands of craft beer lovers, brewers, and exhibitors from Poland and abroad.
The festival was founded by Joanna Boś, an event organizer at OPT “Zamek,” and Agnieszka Wołczaska-Prasolik, creator of the Wrocław Brewing Workshops. Their shared passion and experience transformed a local initiative into a festival recognized across Europe. Each year, the event welcomes exhibitors and guests from countries including the Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Latvia.
The first four editions were held at the atmospheric Leśnica Castle in Wrocław. As the festival rapidly grew in popularity, with an expanding number of visitors and exhibitors, it moved in 2014 to the esplanade of Tarczyński Arena Wrocław. The new location provided the space needed to expand the program and broaden the range of beer and culinary experiences.
Beer in Every Form
Ale Festival is about much more than tastings. At WFDP, beer is explored from every possible angle. Visitors can learn about its history, styles, and traditions, discover how to brew their own beer at home, and even see how beer can shine in the kitchen. The festival demonstrates that this golden beverage can be just as refined and elegant as wine.
What Makes the Wrocław Good Beer Festival Stand Out
WFDP distinguishes itself from other beer festivals through several key elements:
An eco-friendly approach. As the first beer festival in Poland to introduce a deposit-based reusable cup system, WFDP significantly reduced single-use plastic across the festival grounds.
Over 150 exhibitors. Breweries, cider makers, craft beverage producers, food trucks, and local artisans present a diverse and carefully curated selection of products.
An educational zone. Lectures, workshops, and meetings with brewers and brewing experts offer valuable insight for both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts.
A culinary and food truck zone. Live cooking shows, tastings, and beer pairing inspirations highlight the connection between food and craft beer.
A milestone in the Polish Craft Beer Revolution. The premiere of “Atak Chmielu” by Browar Pinta in 2011 took place at WFDP, marking a historic moment for the Polish craft beer scene.
