French Film Festival in Poland
The French Institute in Poland and Gutek Film invite you to the 16th edition of the New French Cinema Festival Review, which will take place from 6 to 12 June 2025.
Its programme includes several films presented at festivals in Cannes and Berlin. Audiences will see, among others, Lionel Baier’s In Hiding, an adaptation of Christophe Boltanski’s award-winning novel, in which the story of his famous family (which included, for example, the artist Christian Boltanski) intertwines. The artist Christian Boltanski) is intertwined with the turbulent history of France, Alain Guiraudie’s Misericordia, chosen by the magazine ‘Cahiers du cinéma’ as the best film of 2024, a confusing tale of complicated relations between the inhabitants of a small town and Julien Colonna’s Our Kingdom, in which a young girl (the excellent debutant Ghjuvanna Benedetti) has to find her place in the brutal reality of feuding Corsican clans.
The closing film of the Cannes Critics’ Week is also an interesting entry of the Review: Animale by Emma Benestan, a feminist western with thriller elements starring César Award-winner Oulaya Amamra.
The cinema screens will also see Daniel Auteil, Sandrine Kiberlain and Denis Podalydès embarking on a surprise-filled comedy voyage with Ship of Love.
Fans of the classics will certainly be interested in Henri Verneuil’s Casino Leap, with wonderful performances by Alain Delon and Jean Gabin, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s unforgettable AmeliaJean-Pierre Jeunet in a digitally restored copy.
