Free Transport in Wroclaw (with a book)

On Saturday, 22 August 2026, you can ride public transport across Wrocław completely free, as long as you are carrying a book. The initiative marks World Book and Copyright Day and International Literacy Day, and it runs alongside the European Night of Literature (Europejska Noc Literatury) taking place the same evening.

Free travel will be valid throughout the day. The only condition is to have a paper book or an e-book reader with you, which will need to be presented during the inspection (books on the screen of your phone, tablet or laptop will not be honoured).

The free travel is timed to help you reach European Night of Literature venues across the city. Many of them sit near the main tram and bus routes in Borek, with several right by ul. Powstańców Śląskich. A Literary Relaxation Zone (Literacka Strefa Relaksu) opens from 4:00 PM in Park Południowy, near the Krzyki loop – a convenient starting point if you arrive by public transport.
