Wrocław’s Forum Musicum returns this August with a refined and historically rich program of early music, performed on period instruments in line with authentic performance practices. Held at the stunning National Forum of Music, this distinguished festival is curated by Tomasz Dobrzański, one of Poland’s leading early music authorities.

Each concert offers more than just sound — it’s a journey through the cultural and social history of music, from the Middle Ages to the Romantic era. The 2025 edition spotlights the evolution of the sonata, tracing its roots from Baroque experimentation to its Classical and Romantic-era prominence.

• A violin sonata recital by Zbigniew Pilch and Marta Niedźwiecka from Wrocław Baroque Ensemble, showcasing early 17th-century compositions.
• A performance by Concerto Scirocco, an internationally acclaimed ensemble, presenting rare instrumental works that blur the line between vocal and instrumental traditions.
• Filatura di Musica exploring the art of improvised counterpoint, a forgotten cornerstone of historical music creation.
• Open-air concerts featuring historical brass ensembles in urban spaces.
• A festive folk dance evening, celebrating traditional rhythms and steps.
