Folk Metal Night Wroclaw – Runika, Velesar, Merkfolk

Another edition of Folk Metal Night in Wroclaw. Playing for you:

VELESAR (folk metal, folk rock, heavy metal – Cieszyn, PL)
One of the most recognisable Polish folk metal bands, deeply rooted in Slavic history and culture. Winner of 1st place in the “Virtual Gesle” poll for folk album of the year for “Szczodre Gody” (2022) and 2nd place for “Pogorzelisko” (2025). Founded in Cieszyn in 2018, their inspiration comes from Slavic mythology, ancient beliefs, rituals, fairytales and legends. Discography: Dziwadla (2019), Szczodre Gody (2021), Pogorzelisko (2024).

RUNIKA (folk metal – Warsaw, PL)
A band with a charismatic female vocal playing folk-inspired melodies in powerful metal settings. On stage they combine mysticism with the energy of the four elements, transporting listeners to times of epic battles and Midsummer bonfires.

MERKFOLK (folk metal, pagan folk, pagan metal – Miedzyrzec Podlaski, PL)
Founded in 2013 by siblings Irmina and Rafal. Performed at Pan-Polish Folk Metal Fan Rallies, Ragnard Rock Festival (France), Kalevala Polish Tour and Hellhammer Festival (Czech Republic). Shared stages with Arkona, Primordial, Wardruna, Skiltron, Nine Treasures and others. Catchy melodies from accordion and violin, heavy guitars and drums, topped with female growl. Name means “folk-bearer” from Norwegian.
