Ethno Jazz Festival THE BULGARIAN VOICES ANGELITE
On October 18, the Gothic Hall at Stary Klasztor in Wrocław becomes the setting for a rare концерт by one of the most distinctive vocal ensembles in the world — The Bulgarian Voices Angelite.
The choir first drew international attention in 1987 during a performance in Bremen, and has since toured across continents, appearing everywhere from Alaska to Japan, Mexico to India. Their sound, rooted in traditional Bulgarian vocal techniques, has reached audiences far beyond the folk scene.
They have performed at the Nobel Prize ceremony in Oslo, sang for dignitaries around the world, and collaborated with artists such as Bobby McFerrin and the Japanese drumming group Kodo. Their recordings also explore unusual directions, including projects with Tuvan overtone singers.
Their music has found its way into film and streaming productions, including Netflix and Disney soundtracks, while also being sampled and rediscovered by contemporary artists. In recent years, their presence on streaming platforms has introduced their work to a new generation of listeners.
A live performance by The Bulgarian Voices Angelite is less about a standard concert and more about atmosphere, precision, and the kind of vocal harmony that feels almost otherworldly.
Wrocław offers one of the few chances to experience it in person.
