Ethno Jazz Festival: Komeda’s Songs Without Words – Piotr Schmidt Quartet
The Ethno Jazz Festival invites you on 17 September to the Gothic Hall at Stary Klasztor for the Wroclaw premiere of Piosenki Komedy bez slow (Komeda’s Songs Without Words).
The new project by Piotr Schmidt, one of the leading trumpeters in Polish jazz, presents instrumental versions of Komeda’s unforgettable film themes and songs in modern, original arrangements. The world premiere in 2024 was received with extraordinary enthusiasm, and the concert recording was released on 12 February 2026 as a live album.
Programme includes: Filizanka Kawy, Le Depart, One Hundred Years – The Riot, Szara Koleda, Ja Nie Chce Spac, Rosemary’s Baby, Z Reka na Gardle, Nim Wstanie Dzien, and more.
Press reviews: A magical evening of Komeda nostalgia, beautiful melodies, masterful performance (Pawel Brodowski, Jazz Forum). Schmidt treats Komeda’s themes not as closed forms, but as a starting point for creative expression (Dionizy Piatkowski, Era Jazzu).
