A heavy, slow evening full of fat riffs in the middle of summer? Sounds like a perfect plan – especially when it comes to a concert by the sludge legends Crowbar, who return to Poland and perform on 31 July at Zaklęte Rewiry in Wrocław, accompanied by Dopelord and Piece!

Crowbar formed in 1990 on the ruins of The Slugs. With the release of their debut album “Obedience Thru Suffering” they gave rise to the NOLA sludge genre. “This music is slow and fat” – that is how Beavis and Butt-Head commented on the sounds of “Existence is Punishment” from the band’s second album, produced by Phil Anselmo, and it is hard to find a better description of Kirk Windstein’s crew.

For nearly four decades this New Orleans group has stood guard over sludge metal, and over that time its ranks have included musicians from Acid Bath, Pantera and Black Label Society. Crowbar is a living brand of heavy music that strengthens its legend with every record. Their concerts never disappoint, as you will be able to see once again on the last day of July.

Active since 2010, Dopelord is one of the most important export bands from Poland today. Over the years the group has earned the title of a leading representative of contemporary stoner doom, sharing the stage with Saint Vitus, Candlemass and Orange Goblin. They tour Europe regularly, beginning this year with a tour alongside Napalm Death. Their discography closes with the 2023 album “Songs for Satan”, and work on its successor is already in the final stretch.

Piece is a Berlin trio combining doom and sludge. They have toured with Crowbar and Napalm Death and played Desertfest. Last year, on The Charming Man Records, they released their second full-length “Rambler’s Axe”.
