Buba Badjie Kuyateh & Kuba Sojka – a tribute to Stanislaw Soyka

Buba Badjie Kuyateh & Kuba Sojka for Stanislaw Soyka. This is a special meeting of two worlds and two sensibilities. Be part of it and join us on 18 June! We play at Wroclaw’s Nietota. The number of places is limited! Doors open: 7:00 PM. Concert start: 7:30 PM.

Buba Badjie Kuyateh, a virtuoso of the kora – the West African harp that is a symbol of centuries-old tradition – and Kuba Sojka, an outstanding drummer, will take the audience on a musical journey full of energy and emotion. The kora intertwines on this musical journey with modern percussion, creating a unique sound on the border of jazz and funk. Above all, the concert is a tribute to the shared history that brought them together.

This evening has a special, personal dimension. The musicians pay homage to the irreplaceable Stanislaw Soyka – Buba’s longtime collaborator and friend, and privately Kuba’s father. The programme will therefore include songs beloved by audiences, reinterpreted with great respect and tenderness. The repertoire will also feature Buba’s own compositions, full of depth and groove, combined with Sojka’s dynamics and his rhythmic craft. It is a concert hard to compare to any other cultural experience – full of spontaneity, passion and love. We invite you to take part together, on 18 June! Let us meet on this exceptional evening! By taking part in the concert you genuinely support this initiative, the artists and culture.

Tickets: 90 zl online; or 100 zl on site on the day of the event.

Buba Badjie Kuyateh was born in Gambia, into a family of griots – masters of music and recognised guardians of West African tradition. He plays the 22-string kora, continuing the heritage of the legendary Kuyateh lineage. In 2012 he moved to Europe, where he began an international solo career. He performs all over the world, but has chosen Poland as his home and regularly works with outstanding musicians such as Maria Pomianowska, Marcin Masecki and Wlodzimierz Kiniorski. For 10 years he formed a musical duo with Stanislaw Soyka, with whom in 2017 he released the album Action Direct Tales. Buba’s music blends authentic Mandinka tradition with funk inspiration and a contemporary sensibility. In 2026 his new album Two Souls was released, in a duo with Lukasz Dembinski – a musical union of kora and handpan.

Kuba Sojka, born in 1981, is a drummer with whom you can travel the world musically. For most of his life he has been part of the professional music scene, performing alongside outstanding artists of the jazz and folk scene, although energetic rock’n’roll also slumbers within him. He is the eldest son of Stanislaw Soyka.
