BIAZ NAZVY (also known as :B:N:) is a Belarusian rock band with roots in the punk scene, founded in 1999 in Bereza. Unofficially banned in Belarus, it was one of the country’s more popular bands in the last decade. Their music combines rebellious energy, emotional melodies, and uncompromising lyrics, becoming a voice for identity, freedom, and resistance to the mainstream. Lyrics are written primarily in Belarusian. Early in their career they said: “there’s rock in Polish, in Ukrainian, so why shouldn’t there be rock in Belarusian?” Today it stands as a form of resistance to the dominance of the Russian language in Belarus. Despite moderate political activity, the band has performed at various events under the banner “Solidarity with Belarus,” and in 2020, during the protests in Minsk, the vocalist performed acoustic shows in various parts of the city, for which he was later detained by the militia for 24 hours. A wave of arrests within the music scene began spreading wider and wider. The decision to leave the country became obvious.

Since 2022 the band has consisted of:
Aliaksandr Liutych – guitar, vocals
Mikalai Paliakou – bass (a multi-instrumentalist, previously in the band Dzieciuki)
Vicky Fates – drums (one of Belarus’s finest drummers, previously performing with, among others, the band Akute)

Their latest album, 20+ (2025), is a powerful and honest testimony to the experiences of a generation living in the shadow of crises, emigration, and the fight for its own voice. The album premiered on February 21, 2025, International Mother Language Day. The cover shows a half-eaten cake and an unfinished party — a message that the era of relative normalcy definitively ended after 2020. Teraz Rock magazine gave it 4/5 stars, writing that it’s “powerful, catchy rock, free of complexes and limitations, but also without folk gimmicks — instead carrying a huge charge of energy and a handful of truly stadium-sized choruses.”

After a successful tour promoting their latest album, the band has decided to revisit their key 2006 album “Žyvie Rock’n’roll.” On this tour they will also present several new songs.
