
Airbag | Concert
The band was formed in 1994, initially as a typical cover band playing Pink Floyd songs. Around 2004-2005 the Norwegian musicians adopted the name Airbag and released their first EP Come On In online, followed by Sounds That I Hear (2006) and Safetree (2007).
Over 110,000 MySpace plays between 2006 and 2008 showed the band’s early reach. Their live debut with original material came in 2007. They have supported Riverside, The Pineapple Thief and Gazpacho.
Identity (2009) was met with critical and fan acclaim. All Rights Removed (2011) captivates from beginning to end. The Greatest Show on Earth (2013) continued through atmospheric soundscapes with heavier metallic tones. Disconnected (2016) united six compositions by a common theme. A Day At The Beach (2020) was acclaimed one of the most interesting releases of that year.
The single Erase (March 2024) previewed The Century Of The Self, promoted with three Polish concerts. Guitarist Bjorn Riis develops a parallel solo career – Fimbulvinter appeared April 2025. The live album Dysphoria – Live In The Netherlands followed in late 2025.
In spring 2026 the band began recording a new studio album. Polish tour November 2026: 5 Nov Warsaw, 6 Nov Wroclaw, 7 Nov Krakow.
Although they began as a club cover band, Airbag has forged its own distinctive style blending classical music, progressive rock, electronics and Scandinavian melancholy. Inspirations from Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Talk Talk, Radiohead and A-ha are audible, yet Airbag stands independently strong in 21st century music.
