3Hz | Młyn – Concert
Not everything worthwhile happens only on the biggest stages.
Sometimes the best concerts start with a message sent to a friend five minutes before the first song. Someone brings a camera. Someone counts out change for the last vinyl to buy on the spot. Someone else searches Bandcamp a month later because they photographed a band name on a poster. And the rest use the evening as an excuse to meet up with friends around town afterward. Any excuse is a good one to go offline.
3Hz collects evenings like these.
From late August through December we move between Barbara, Recepcja, and Klub pod Kolumnami – three venues of the Wrocław Institute of Culture. We listen, talk, unwind, and see what Wrocław’s alternative scene has to offer.
3Hz presents // Młyn
Młyn comes to Recepcja with music that’s always on the move. The trio of Sebastian Milewski (keys), Cezary Rosiński (electronics), and Michał Wdowikowski (drums) has spent years exploring what can be done by combining live instruments, electronics, and improvisation.
“Młyn (…) serves up a very refreshing blend of jazz and electronics. They’re good not just at playing, but at needling too: ‘Famous jazz critics will be outraged and disgusted. Famous electronic music critics might be too,’ they write. Clever and sharp, and the music itself is brilliantly twisted. Młyn radiates self-confidence, and against strong competition, it holds up well – and is certainly noticeable.” — Jarek Szczęsny, Nowamuzyka.pl
Their discography includes the albums Reklama (2018, Dym Records) and Folwark (2021, Gusstaff Records). They’ve performed at Avant Art Festival, Fonomo, Ars Cameralis, Dym Festival, Borderline Festival, and numerous club shows in Poland and the Czech Republic. In 2022 the band was recognized by Polish critics with a nomination in Gazeta Wyborcza’s “Sanki” poll.
Młyn likes to experiment, stir things up, and test how far the boundaries of sound can be pushed.
